Hi Carol, I have always loved to draw, have kept over 40 years worth of sketchbooks and simple manilla sketches, dating back to assignments done in my Beaux Arts University days..There is something quite unique about bare bones artistic description.. I was an art prof for 15 years, and for me, the most essential tool to instill into would be young artists, is that ability to DRAW, to see, to look, to envision on the page, what the heart, eye and mind sees. To most onlookers, they never see this part in our finished product...surface trickery often attracts them first. But for the REAL ARTIST, the simplicity, the honesty, the SKILL to draw directly, without gimmicks..is irreplaceable.. You have this remarkable ability Carol...I think that your drawings of birds are among the best that I have enjoyed...your accent lines, the hint of tonal values, the variety of your lines, the direction and length of each calligraphic marking..soo superb. And of course..the character of the little fellow himself..so infectious!!,...Hope you produce MANY MORE..and thank you again for congrats on my newest print sale..this makes 18 print sales on Faa for me..and I wish you the very same success.

Carol, Thanks for the nice comment, even though I spelled Eudora Welty's name incorrectly, which I have since corrected. Your drawings are so alive with the love of nature. Thanks, Dan
